Indoor Allergy Week – 11th – 17th November 2013

Indoor Allergy WeekFrom the 11th to the 17th November is Indoor Allergy Week – an event organised by Allergy UK to raise awareness of indoor allergens and to draw attention to ‘the plight of the allergy sufferer’.

One of the biggest indoor allergens is the dust mite, and with 1 in 4 people in the UK suffering from allergies, these tiny creatures can cause HUGE problems!

Unfortunately over the coming months many of us will – unwittingly – be creating the perfect environment for dust mites to thrive. As the days and nights get colder we’re sure that you’ll be cranking up your central heating, but a room temperature above 25 degrees encourages mites to grow. Furthermore, the water which we sweat at night (a rather astonishing third of a litre!) creates and environment that is absolutely perfect for the creatures to flourish.

So next week we recommend that, if you’re an allergy sufferer, you take some time to have a browse on the Allergy UK website and take advantage of some of the information and guidance that they will be offering.
