Stepping Stones Festival time in Brampton

The second Stepping Stones Festival will be held in Brampton over the early Bank Holiday weekend of 3rd, 4th and 5th of May. Once again it will be based around four main musical concerts held at Brampton Community Centre but there will be plenty of smaller concerts and events elsewhere within Brampton bringing a festival atmosphere throughout the whole town.

The Stepping Stones Festival kicks off with a lively Ceilidh on the Friday night and the dancing theme will continue throughout the weekend with clog dancing and circle dancing plus a variety of workshops. Other events include street theatre, storytelling, poetry reading, craft demonstrations, painting competitions and singing, instrumental and percussion workshops by some of the performing artists.

There will also be two Open Mic stages with the top performers invited to join Maddy on stage for the Sunday night finale!

A highlight of the weekend will be Maddy Prior’s original musical story of Marcus Agrippa, a Roman commander on Hadrian’s Wall, which she will be performing with friends and colleagues – a musical journey travelling from the Danube to Maryport reflecting the many peoples that lived on Hadrian’s Wall in Roman times.

The Farmers’ Market will be in the Market Place on the Saturday, plus the funfair on the Sunday. The town will come alive with many shops, pubs and Cafes remaining open throughout the weekend.

Look out also for the Maddy Hatters Tea Party at the Moot Hall on Sunday at 12.30pm.

Proceeds from the Stepping Stones Festival will support the Great North Air Ambulance, Pride of Cumbria.
