Manuka Honey – produced by bees pollinating the native manuka bush in New Zealand – is well known and highly regarded for it’s antibacterial qualities. As well as containing hydrogen peroxide – which is found in ALL honey – Manuka honey also contains a further antibacterial substance; methylglyoxal. While this is also present in many other types of honey, it is of a far higher concentration in Manuka honey.
