National Stress Awareness Day

National Stress Awareness DayNovember 6th 2013 is National Stress Awareness Day. The annual event, which is organised by the International Stress Management Association (ISMA), has been created with the goal of raising awareness of the effects of psychological distress experienced in the workplace as well as the various coping strategies that are available to try and address these effects.

You can find out more about the event and it’s origins on the ISMA website.

We thought we’d take this opportunity to remind you all of some fantastic natural methods of coping and dealing with stress that you may or may not already be aware of:

  • Rescue Remedy – still produced in accordance with Dr Edward Bach’s 70 year old method, this combination of flower essences and grape alcohol solution can be taken by anyone, anywhere to restore calm, control and focus.
  • Aromatherapy – in certain scenarios, tests have shown that inhaling certain scents can have an immediate stress relieving effect by raising mood, reducing anxiety and aiding focus and concentration. Our recommendations for effective scents include Cypress, Lavender and Rosemary. We also stock a fantastic Aromatherapy Stress Kit, which is a great starting point.
  • Soak away the stress with a bath – draw yourself a hot bath with this beautiful Aloe Vera and Ylang Ylang foam bath to sooth both your body and mind, or use this Tisserand Signature Blend bath soak to unwind completely.
  • Rhodiola Rosea Root Extract – these StressEaze tablets can work wonders in providing temporary relief from stress symptoms such as fatigue, exhaustion and mild anxiety.

We hope that some of this information is useful to you, and if you’re feeling stressed you can utilise some of it to calm and soothe yourself.
